Best Gaming PC for GTA VI in the UK — 2026 Build Guide
Share
GTA VI is one of the most anticipated PC releases in history — and if you want to experience it at its best, you'll need a capable machine. Based on Rockstar's track record with GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2, combined with what we know about the console versions, here's a detailed breakdown of what to expect and how to build the right PC for GTA VI in the UK.
What We Know About GTA VI PC Requirements
Rockstar hasn't officially published PC requirements yet, but we can make very confident predictions based on a few sources. GTA VI launched on PS5 and Xbox Series X running at 4K/60fps — both consoles use hardware roughly equivalent to an RTX 2070 in rasterisation performance. However, Rockstar consistently targets much higher settings on PC, and GTA V's recommended specs were significantly higher than its console equivalents.
Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar's most recent PC release, recommended an RTX 2080 for Ultra at 1080p. GTA VI will almost certainly be more demanding. Our estimates:
Estimated GTA VI PC Requirements
- Minimum (1080p low/medium): RTX 3060 or RX 6700, Intel Core i5-12400 or Ryzen 5 5600, 16GB RAM, 150GB+ NVMe SSD
- Recommended (1080p high/ultra): RTX 5060 Ti or RX 9070, Intel Core i7-14700K or Ryzen 7 9700X, 32GB DDR5 RAM, 250GB+ NVMe SSD
- Ultra (1440p high): RTX 5070 or RX 9070 XT, Ryzen 7 9800X3D or Core Ultra 7 270K Plus, 32GB DDR5 RAM, NVMe SSD
- 4K Ultra: RTX 5080 or RTX 5090, Ryzen 9 9950X3D or Core Ultra 9 285K, 64GB DDR5 RAM, NVMe SSD
One thing is certain from past Rockstar releases: SSD is mandatory. GTA V still runs on HDD but RDR2 already struggled without one. GTA VI will almost certainly require NVMe SSD for acceptable loading times and open-world streaming.
Best GPU Choices for GTA VI
GTA VI is likely to be one of the most GPU-demanding titles of 2026 and beyond. Here's how the current GPU lineup stacks up:
- RTX 5060 Ti (16GB): The sweet spot for 1080p high to ultra. The 16GB VRAM version is important — open-world games eat through VRAM quickly, and GTA VI will be one of the most detailed open worlds ever created.
- RX 9070 / RTX 5070: Excellent at 1440p high settings. Great all-round choice with plenty of headroom post-launch as Rockstar releases patches and optimisations.
- RX 9070 XT / RTX 5070 Ti: Our top recommendation for GTA VI. 1440p ultra or 4K high — this is the tier where the game will look its best without flagship pricing.
- RTX 5080 / RTX 5090: For those who want 4K ultra with ray tracing enabled. GTA VI is expected to feature heavy use of ray tracing and path tracing on PC, where these cards will genuinely shine.
CPU for GTA VI — Does It Matter?
GTA V was notoriously CPU-heavy, often bottlenecking high-end GPUs on older chips. GTA VI is expected to make significant use of multi-core CPUs for AI, physics, and NPC simulation — particularly in the busy urban environments of Vice City. Our CPU recommendations:
- Budget: Ryzen 5 9600X or Core i5-14600KF — more than enough for 1080p gaming.
- Mid-range: Ryzen 7 9700X or Core Ultra 7 265K — handles the game with headroom for streaming.
- Optimal: Ryzen 7 9800X3D — AMD's 3D V-Cache technology gives a measurable gaming advantage in open-world titles that tend to be CPU-limited in busy areas.
- Maximum: Ryzen 9 9950X3D or Core Ultra 9 285K — future-proofed for years.
Storage — Plan for a Large Install
GTA V sits at around 100GB. RDR2 is 150GB. GTA VI, with its two protagonists, enormous map, and next-generation assets, could easily exceed 200–300GB on PC. Our recommendation: get at least a 2TB NVMe SSD. A 1TB drive would leave you constantly juggling installs, and GTA VI is exactly the kind of game you'll want on your fastest drive for loading times.
Build Examples for GTA VI
Here are three complete custom PC configurations that will handle GTA VI at different settings:
- £1,200 — 1080p High: Ryzen 5 9600X + RTX 5060 Ti 8GB + 16GB DDR5 + 1TB NVMe
- £1,750 — 1440p Ultra: Ryzen 7 9800X3D + RX 9070 XT + 32GB DDR5 + 2TB NVMe
- £2,800 — 4K High/Ultra: Ryzen 9 9950X + RTX 5080 + 32GB DDR5 + 2TB NVMe
Should You Buy Now or Wait for Release?
GTA VI's PC release date hasn't been confirmed yet, but building now has real advantages. GPU prices in 2026 are reasonable, and buying a custom PC today means it's run-in and working perfectly by launch day. Waiting for official PC requirements risks price hikes on components if there's a shortage.
